You'll Need

  • Wide shallow bowl
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 scoops French Vanilla Protein Coffee (one 30g serving)
  • 2 tbsp milk of choice
  • 1/4 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A thread of honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Put the yogurt in the bowl and make a well in the middle.
  2. 2Add the protein coffee and the milk into the well, then stir from the centre outward. Working from the middle is what keeps it from streaking.
  3. 3Keep stirring 30 seconds until the colour is even and there are no dry pockets against the sides.
  4. 4Top with granola on one side, berries on the other, a pinch of cinnamon and a thread of honey if you want it.

Two spoons, one bowl, three minutes. Stirring a serving of French Vanilla Protein Coffee straight into Greek yogurt turns a plain breakfast into 49 grams of protein — more than any other recipe on this site — and it tastes like a coffee-vanilla dessert rather than a health food.

Why This Works

Greek yogurt is thick enough that dry powder sits on top of it rather than sinking in, which is why people end up with dry streaks. Making a well and adding the two tablespoons of milk with the powder gives it something loose to dissolve into first. Stir from the centre outward and the hydrated mixture pulls the surrounding yogurt in with it.

The protein maths here are unusually good because nothing is diluting it. A drink adds a cup of milk and the calories that come with it; this adds a serving of powder to something already carrying 22g of its own protein. Same three minutes, roughly double the protein of any latte on the site.

Tips From Our Kitchen

  • Full-fat Greek yogurt makes it taste like dessert. Non-fat keeps it lighter and tangier. Both work.
  • Add the granola at the last second. Thirty seconds early and it has already gone soft.
  • If it's too thick to stir comfortably, another tablespoon of milk fixes it without thinning the flavour.
  • Make the yogurt base the night before and keep it covered - it firms up slightly and tastes better cold.

Swaps & Variations

  • Mocha bowl: Mocha Protein Coffee with cocoa nibs and banana instead of berries.
  • Matcha bowl: High Protein Matcha with kiwi and pistachios. Worth it for the colour alone.
  • Dairy-free: thick coconut yogurt. Protein drops to about 27g since the yogurt was carrying half of it.
  • Lower carb: skip the granola, use chopped almonds and raspberries. About 300 calories.

Common Questions

Can you mix protein powder into Greek yogurt?

Yes, but not dry. Yogurt is too thick for powder to dissolve into on its own and you get dry streaks. Add two tablespoons of milk with the powder, make a well in the middle, and stir outward from the centre.

How much protein is in it?

49 grams - 22g from one 30g serving of French Vanilla Protein Coffee and about 22g from the cup of Greek yogurt, plus small amounts from the granola and milk. It's the highest-protein recipe in our collection.

How many calories?

About 420 with granola and berries. Skip the granola and it's roughly 290 calories with 46g of protein still intact.

Does it taste like coffee?

Mildly. There's real arabica instant coffee in the powder, about 40mg of caffeine, so it reads as a vanilla-coffee flavour rather than a strong cup. It works as breakfast and covers some of your coffee at the same time.

Can I make it the night before?

Make the yogurt base ahead and keep it covered in the fridge - it firms slightly and the flavour settles. Add granola and berries just before eating.
